Many years ago, a work colleague uttered a phrase that’s still with me to this day…
Don’t hide your light.
He saw me when I couldn’t see myself. I threw myself into my work, but really I was hiding.
‘Don’t hide your light’ was a catalyst. A moment in time that’s resonated occasionally over the years when my optimism or confidence has taken a knock.
There’s a cost to hiding who you are and what you offer…
And yet for the quiet, the introvert, the highly sensitive, it’s a paradox. You want to “put yourself out there” but something stops you.
Sometimes it’s the noise of the World. Sometimes it’s the noise in your own head.
A nagging feeling you are not enough. That no-one is interested in what you have to say. That what you have to offer isn’t good enough.
I’m here to call you out on that. Note to self, I’m calling myself out on it too!
You are enough. What you have to offer is needed and wanted. You have gifts. Some innate, some learned.
Deep down, you know what comes easily to you but maybe not to others.
Are you hiding your value?
Because right now, your people want what you have to offer.
They’re searching. Asking questions. Going down rabbit-holes…
Ask yourself. Are you visible? Can they find you?
If “selling” gives you the ick, don’t sell.
I’m not interested in selling. I’m interested in building trust.
Don’t hide your light.
